Years 1/2 - Penguins

Year 1/2 – Penguins Class

Mr Hopper

Hello, I’m Mr Hopper. I have worked at Medlock Valley since September 2016. When I arrived at Medlock I started teaching in Lower Key Stage 2 and then moved to Key Stage 1 in 2019 where I currently teach Year 1/2. Before studying teaching, I studied Law at university while volunteering in a local primary school and running a regular show on the student radio. I grew up in Salford but then I moved to the bustling city centre of Manchester. My main role is a class teacher but I recently became the Art Curriculum Lead meaning I’ve been able to plan and provide some exciting Art topics for the children in all classes across the school.

Outside of school my main passions are music, travelling and food. I try to spend as much time in Manchester taking advantage of the large number of live music venues in order to see a wide range of artists and musicians. I also play piano and can often be found spending my time listening to and writing music. As someone who loves food, I spend a lot of time eating out at restaurants, trying new recipes from all over the world and cooking for my friends and family.

My favourite thing about teaching is preparing fun lessons and trips so that my classes can have new experiences and we can all learn new things.
