Our Vision and Values

The Values and Vision of Medlock Valley are depicted on the School’s tree.

As a values-led school, we underpin our everyday practice with the values of Kingfisher Learning Trust – Aspiration, Integrity & Respect.

The values of Medlock Valley School are depicted as tree roots– the foundations of all that we aspire to be in our relationships, behaviour and school culture. We help the children in growing the roots as they embark on their learning journey. Values are a gift we can give the children, inspiring them to be ambitious, inquisitive and motivated learners ready for the next stage of their learning journey.

  • Respect
  • Equality
  • Aspiration
  • Compassion
  • Honesty

The School’s Values link closely to the British Values and children are aware of protected characteristics

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance

On the leaves of the tree are the outcomes we aspire for the children and staff to be:

  • Ambitious Inquisitive Motivated Learners

The Trust’s vision is for Endless Possibilities and to ensure this, the School’s Vision is:

  • Inspiring Minds to Achieve Together

Each class collaboratively develops a class set of expectations at the beginning of the school year to agree what their class behaviours should look like; how they will learn, communicate, resolve issues.

As professionals  a planned session with all staff is facilitated at the beginning of each term to further develop and refine our vision and values-led practice through reflection.

This ensures that all our work at Medlock Valley  is joined up and in our daily practice we consider our vision and values tree.
